We have cancelled mid-semester exams for all year levels. However, for any assessment conducted during the remote learning period, teachers may wish to schedule validation tasks (ie. topic test) during class under exam conditions.

At Thomas Carr, we have extended our semester reporting timeline to the end of Term 2 for teachers to complete their reports. We are currently working through the details of these reports to reflect the current learning environment. Reports will be available for parents to access week one of the term break.

Classes are scheduled as per the current timetable with a combination of online and self-directed ‘off-line’ learning activities using SIMON and Microsoft (MS) TEAMS from 8.30am – 3.10pm.

When planning lessons, teachers are encouraged to consider how best to structure their lessons using a combination of self-directed lessons and online instruction using MS TEAMS across each week of the cycle. When planning teachers are encouraged to:

Continue to refine units of work that can be provided through a flexible ‘asynchronous’ approach to learning using the College’s current online platforms (SIMON and Microsoft TEAMS).

Structure lessons that provide opportunities for students to self-direct and regulate their learning without constant online delivery in ‘real-time’.

Avoid overwhelming students by giving them too many learning activities and assessment tasks to complete.

Teachers are also encouarged to limit online direct teaching to 20 to 30 minutes using the attached lesson structure as a guide for overall planning and online lesson delivery.
